On May, 8th it was consecrated Valdespartera neighborhood’s new parish in Zaragoza. The parish was designed by Ingennus Urban Consulting and dedicated to the regional saint and martyr Saint Ignacio Clemente Delgado.

The ceremony, presided over by archbishop Mr. Vicente Jiménez, officially began when Mr. Joaquín Magrazó, architect in charge of the project, handed over the parish keys.

The service was carried out with an exceptional use of symbolic elements and rites, but it also enabled the Archbishopric to publicly show both their gratitude and their satisfaction for the work accomplished. These feelings were confirmed by the large number of assistants and neighbors, whose presence exceeded the church’s capacity.

The building has been designed following environmental sustainability and economic criteria, by only using prefabricated material, which substantially reduces both construction waste and working deadlines.

It should be emphasized the building’s sober composition, composed by 2 main areas, the church itself and the adjacent spaces. Both spaces are connected by an access courtyard with overhead lighting, which contributes to create a spiritual vibe in an intimate relationship between the space, the light and the functional distribution. Furthermore, the parish is equipped with sports facilities that will contribute to create closer ties between the neighbors and strengthen the community feelings.

To conclude, it is worth noting as an anecdote that the neighbors of Villafeliche -hometown to the Aragonese saint- gave Our Lady of the Pillar an embroidery cloak with the image of the building designed by Ingennus Urban Consulting.
