This project carried out the functional plan for the correct operation of the Agrifood Safety Centre. This building is also a R&D centre for research on plant species used in the agrifood sector. The centre’s programme includes biological risk areas P2 and P3 and an animal house.
The building resolves the proper arrangement of the administration, health and service uses, and determines the necessary levels of risk and safety. The challenge consisted in achieving the flexibility needed in all the planned spaces, from a construction and facilities point of view. The air conditioning and filtration system is especially complex throughout the centre and particularly in the laboratories with P2 and P3 biosafety level.
